Education is a crucial component to a region’s economic development – it can help fill specific skill needs in the short term and in the long term contributes to the overall quality of the workforce. In support of this focus, the Big Horn Mountain Coalition (BHMC) holds a strong partnership with education by hosting a representative of post-secondary education as part of our Board and the committee that developed our most recent Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.
BHMC’s unique position as an Economic Development District also provides access to grant and funding opportunities through the US Economic Development Administration. Similarly, the Northern Wyoming Community College District’s (NWCCD) presence in both Sheridan and Johnson Counties makes NWCCD eligible for grant opportunities through BHMC. We are proud of this partnership to bring additional funding to bear in promoting quality education in the region. Furthermore, BHMC and NWCCD have partnered to provide various grant-training workshops throughout the region.
