Basin, Wyoming

The Town of Basin, Wyoming is perhaps best known as the “Lilac Town” due to the number of perfumed lilac hedges that line the streets and approaching highways. Basin has led a long and illustrious history since its founding in 1896, punctuated by the various initiatives to bring lilacs, trees and shrubs to dot the landscape. The citizens of Basin first began a tree and shrub planting campaign in 1910, and reinvigorated the push in 1936 with a drive to become the Lilac Town. Basin’s location and surrounding scenery make it an ideal place for a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, golf or even just a scenic drive.
